Sacha Kljestan and Mike Grella netted in both halves as New York Red Bulls beat 10-man Orlando City 2-0 at the Citrus Bowl this morning.
The American stunned the home fans on 21 minutes with a long-range strike past Luis Robles, before Grella sealed the points late on after Cyle Larin saw red for the hosts.
The Bulls started the game in a positive fashion as Kljestan had a go from distance, only to be denied by a sprawling Tally Hall in the Orlando goal.
Carlos Rivas registered Orlando's intent early on too, as he forced a good stop from the New York keeper from the centre of the box.
Kljestan was to return to haunt Orlando, however, and he gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead with a bullet of a shot that proved too much for a helpless Hall.
Orlando's chances of getting back into the game took a major dent just over 10 minutes later, when striker Larin was shown a straight red card following a challenge that showed too many of his studs.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Adrian Heath's side refused to go quietly and almost levelled midway through the second half when Robles pushed Cristian Higuita's drive against the post.
Heath then followed Larin into the tunnel, before producing a full-blooded attempt to reinvigorate the fans on his way, but Grella netted a second in the dying stages to dash any hopes of a comeback.
