Former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has been handed the managerial role at Serie B outfit Palermo.
The Italian, who was appointed player-coach of Swiss outfit FC Sion last season, replaces Giuseppe Sannino at the club.
"Gattuso is our coach for next season. I can confirm that officially. A club statement will soon be released on the matter," club president Maurizio Zamparini told Ita Sport Press.
"We are happy to have such an important personality as Gattuso on our bench, someone who has written important chapters in the history of Italian football.
"I'm sure that with his great experience he will take us immediately back into Serie A."
Palermo were relegated from Serie A last season.
