Ajax and PEC Zwolle have played out a 0-0 draw in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the Amsterdam Arena.
The visitors, riding high in the Dutch league, threatened first through Tomas Necid's effort in the second minute, but Jasper Cillessen was equal to it.
Ajax countered through Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, who fired on goal before forcing a corner kick from a header on target.
PEC caused havoc with a corner kick just after the quarter-hour mark, but the end product to convert was not there.
On the half-hour mark, it was Zwolle's turn to threaten again, as Necid once again forced a good save out of the Ajax goalkeeper.
Both sides went in level at the break, but after the restart, Ben Rienstra narrowly fired over the bar for the visitors.
The unperturbed hosts continued to press forward in a bid to stamp their dominance on the game, Ricardo Kishna and Joel Veltman threatening on the hour.
Nevertheless, the breakthrough did not come, and so both sides had to settle for a point apiece.
The result means that Ajax sit second in the Eredivisie, one place ahead of PEC on goal difference.
