Port Vale defender Adam Yates has revealed that he did not hide his unhappiness after having his regular number two shirt taken away from him ahead of the new season.
Manager Rob Page has handed the shirt to new signing Ben Purkiss, but Yates, the club's longest-serving player, has admitted that he was quick to inform his boss that he disagreed with the decision.
The 32-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "I was not best pleased about it. I don't think anyone would be.
"It was his call. He knows I wasn't happy about it. I've been here six years. I told him if it had happened to him, he wouldn't have been happy about it, but it's part and parcel of football."
Yates has made 234 appearances during his six years at the Staffordshire club.
