Iker Casillas rejected a move to the Premier League in order to join Portuguese giants Porto, according to the player's agent.
The 34-year departed Real Madrid this summer after making more than 700 appearances for the club.
Many of European football's biggest sides are thought to have shown an interest in signing the Spanish shot-stopper, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among those to have been linked.
Casillas' representative Santos Marquez has confirmed that approaches were made by unnamed clubs in England, telling AS Diario: "The idea of joining a team which had qualified for this year's Champions League was appealing.
"We did study a few offers from the Premier League but none of them really interested Iker too much."
Casillas played 45 minutes for Porto in their 2-0 victory over Duisburg on Saturday.
