A statement on Portsmouth's official website has confirmed that Johnny Ertl has signed a new three-year contract with the League Two outfit.
The 30-year-old, who joined the club last August, impressed during his 39 appearances last season, but was unable to help the team remain in League One.
"Johnny Ertl has penned a new three-year Pompey deal. The Blues skipper – who is comfortable in midfielder or defence – arrived at Fratton Park last August," read the statement.
The Austrian has previously played for Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.
