Portsmouth manager Richie Barker has indicated that he wants to sign several players during the January transfer window after securing a deal for defender Daniel Alfei.
Barker's acquisition of the Swansea City full-back on a one-month loan deal represents his first signing at Fratton Park, and the former Crawley Town boss has hinted that more players could follow.
The 38-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We certainly need to sign players in terms of numbers.
"We are scrambling around the development squad. With all due respect to the boys, numbers are an issue."
Alfei, who has played for Wales at Under-21 level, spent a period on loan at Wrexham last season.
