Preston North End boss Simon Grayson has hinted that the club is considering a fresh bid for Chesterfield defender Tendayi Darikwa.
Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner revealed earlier this week that an unnamed club, thought to be Preston, had failed with an offer for the 23-year-old.
Grayson has now suggested that the Championship side will continue its pursuit of the player.
"It's no secret that right-back's a position where we've made a bid for a player," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"The other club's valuation is higher than ours at this moment in time. Do we go back in? We'll have to wait and see.
"Obviously the player's made it aware that he wants to play at a higher level with a transfer request that has gone in that I've seen in the press. We'll see where we go."
Darikwa has previously spent time on loan at Barrow and Hinckley United.
