Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe may reportedly not be involved in the Coupe de France final.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the legendary forward would be departing Parc des Princes on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 2018 World Cup winner is expected to sign a long-term deal with Real Madrid, although that is yet to be confirmed at this stage.
As it stands, Mbappe still has a season to finish with the French giants, who will be aiming for another domestic piece of silverware when they face Lyon on Saturday.
Even with Mbappe not featuring against Metz over the weekend, the perception has been that the 25-year-old will be recalled for the cup final.
Mbappe Coupe de France participation in doubt?
According to Daniel Riolo, journalist and editor for RMC Sport, that may not necessarily be the case.
Mbappe has been seen at the Cannes Film Festival, along with Ousmane Dembele, and while it has been claimed that the winger is no longer wanted by Luis Enrique, departing attacker Mbappe is described as 'being on a break'.
Riolo said: "The logic now is that Mbappe no longer plays at all, there is a break with the club, Luis Enrique cannot supervise him, with Nasser (Al-Khelaifi) they don't even say hello anymore.
"In any case, he doesn't deserve, he doesn't train anymore, he's not good. The story is over. If he doesn't win the Coupe de France, we'll still talk about a successful season."
How much game time has Mbappe had recently?
Although there have been periods when Mbappe has been in and out of the PSG starting lineup, he has actually completed 90 minutes on six occasions since April 10.
Four of those occasions were naturally the Champions League fixtures against Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, but he also featured for the entire game in his last Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse.
Missing the Metz fixture came as little surprise given that it was a dead-rubber, but the expectation was that he would line up against a resurgent Lyon side.
While that may still remain the case, and no reports have been confirmed or denied, that is now very clearly in doubt with Luis Enrique having also acknowledged in the past that PSG need to adapt to playing without the club's all-time record goalscorer. body check tags ::
