Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi is being investigated for alleged rape by French prosecutors following accusations from a woman.
While Hakimi was getting ready to attend FIFA's The Best Awards 2022 ceremony on Monday night, a report from Le Parisien stated that the right-back had been accused of raping a 23-year-old woman.
The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday, when Hakimi - who missed PSG's win over Marseille the day after due to injury - is said to have ordered an Uber to the victim's home after talking with her on Instagram for over a month.
While there, Hakimi is alleged to have kissed and digitally penetrated the woman without her consent, but she managed to free herself by pushing him away with his foot.
The woman then texted a friend to pick her up before going to the police station the next day, although she indicated that she did not wish to file a formal complaint.
However, due to the serious nature of the accusations, police chiefs at the Nanterre prosecutor's office were immediately informed, and a preliminary investigation is now underway.
The investigation was confirmed to the Associated Press by a judicial official - according to The Guardian - who stated that the dignitary would not comment on the report from Le Parisien.
PSG have not released any statements on the allegations and reportedly did not respond to requests for comment, while Hakimi has not publicly addressed the accusations either.
Despite the publication of the shocking report a couple of hours before the FIFA ceremony, Hakimi was in attendance and was named in the FIFA FIFPRO Men's World XI, taking to the stage to collect his trophy.
The former Real Madrid man has been an integral performer for PSG in the 2022-23 campaign, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 31 matches in all competitions.
Hakimi has a total of eight goals and 11 assists from 72 games for the French champions since joining from Inter Milan in 2021, and he was a regular starter for Morocco en route to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals.
The 24-year-old came through the youth system at Real Madrid and made 17 appearances for Los Blancos at senior level, having also been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund between 2018 and 2020.
With Hakimi absent due to his thigh problem, PSG opened up an eight-point lead over Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 table thanks to their three-goal victory in Le Classique, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice either side of Lionel Messi's effort.
Les Parisiens are next in action against Nantes on Saturday before the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich on March 8. body check tags ::
