Paris Saint-Germain deny "completely wrong" Kylian Mbappe contract leaks

Paris Saint-Germain label alleged leaks of Kylian Mbappe's contract details "completely wrong" amid reports that the club have committed to paying the striker £549m.

Paris Saint-Germain have labelled supposed leaked details of Kylian Mbappe's new contract as "completely false".

The capital club convinced Mbappe to sign a new two-year deal with an option until 2025 back in May, ending long-running speculation surrounding a move to Real Madrid.

Earlier this week, French outlet Le Parisien claimed that the lucrative new deal PSG handed Mbappe in the summer has seen the Ligue 1 champions commit to paying the 23-year-old a staggering £549m.

Mbappe's contract reportedly includes a monthly wage of €6m (£5.2m) before tax, as well as a signing-on bonus of €180m (£175.5m) payable over three years.

Furthermore, the report alleged that Mbappe would also be paid a loyalty bonus of €70m (£61.3m), which would increase by €10m (£8.8m) for every season he remained at the club.

However, PSG have now emphatically rejected the "sensationalist" claims, while also questioning the timing of the story before their crunch Champions League tie with Maccabi Haifa.

"Following a sensationalist media story published overnight regarding the club and one of its players, Paris Saint-Germain confirms the story is completely wrong with not a single detail being correct," the statement read.

"The timing of the spurious publication by this media outlet is also surprising, just days before an important Champions League match."

It has been just five months since Mbappe's new contract at the Parc des Princes was confirmed, but reports emerged earlier this month claiming that the ex-Monaco man is now keen to leave the club.

Mbappe has supposedly been left aggrieved by promises made during his renewal which have not been fulfilled, but he has denied directly asking for an exit in January.

Head coach Christophe Galtier and football advisor Luis Campos have also tried to downplay claims that Mbappe is unhappy at the club, although he is still said to privately hold an ambition to leave in the near future.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are seen as two of the only realistic contenders to sign Mbappe, but the former's president Florentino Perez has affirmed that he is no longer interested in the striker's services.

Despite the constant whirlwind of rumours over his future, Mbappe has started the new season strongly for PSG, scoring 14 goals and providing two assists in 15 games in all tournaments.

The France international now has 185 strikes and 90 assists from 232 games for Les Parisiens and became their highest-scoring Champions League player of all time earlier this month, netting for the 31st time in the tournament for PSG against Benfica.

Galtier's side face a crunch showdown with Maccabi Haifa in Group H on Tuesday, and victory over the Israeli side would see PSG advance to the last 16. body check tags ::
