Neymar scores four goals and Edinson Cavani equals PSG's all-time goalscoring record as the Ligue 1 leaders thrash Dijon 8-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Neymar scored four goals as Paris Saint-Germain recorded their biggest ever home win in any competition with an 8-0 drubbing of Dijon at the Parc des Princes this evening.

The Brazilian also weighed in with two assists in a virtuoso display which steals the headlines despite Edinson Cavani equalling the club's all-time goalscoring record with his 156th PSG goal.

Angel Di Maria set the tone for a dominant display with two goals inside the opening 15 minutes, with Cavani and Neymar adding to that lead to end the game as a contest before half time.

Neymar then added a second-half hat-trick while Kylian Mbappe also got himself on the scoresheet as PSG moved 11 points clear at the top of the table in emphatic fashion.

Di Maria's fourth-minute strike got the rout up and running as he scored for a third Ligue 1 game in a row, curling a fine effort into the top corner to also set the standard for the level of goals in the match.

Neymar may even have had five to his name had Di Maria not snuck in to double his own tally in the 15th minute, poking the ball over the line after Neymar had broken free of the defence and dinked his finish over the keeper.

Di Maria turned provider for the third goal when he set up Cavani for his historic moment, and the Uruguayan striker made no mistake with his close-range header to draw level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic as PSG's leading goalscorer of all time.

Neymar did not manage to get on the scoresheet himself until three minutes before half time, but his opening goal was well worth the wait as he floated a free kick over the wall and into the top corner from 25 yards, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

Despite PSG's utter dominance it was Dijon who created the first chance of the second half when Kwon Chang-hoon fired just wide from the edge of the box, but normal service soon resumed when Neymar threatened with an effort that needed to be saved by Baptiste Reynet.

The Brazilian would not have to wait much longer for his second goal of the night, though, as he stroked home a rebound from inside the box to make it 5-0.

Neymar allowed Cavani to take over free kick duties shortly after the hour mark and the striker - now in search of the outright record - almost took full advantage with an effort which flew narrowly over the crossbar.

Christopher Nkunku was the next to come close for the rampant hosts, who have now scored 58 goals in their 14 home games across all competitions, but few of them will have been better than the one which saw Neymar complete his hat-trick in the 73rd minute.

It was already a stunning team move from PSG before the Brazilian picked the ball up on the left flank just inside the Dijon half, and Neymar then embarked on a brilliant solo run which saw him beat five players before drilling a low strike in from just outside the area.

Not content with that, Neymar added another assist to his tally - his 11th of the season - just four minutes later when he teed up Mbappe, who made no mistake with his finish just nine minutes after coming on as a sub.

Fittingly it was Neymar who capped off the scoring from the penalty spot after Cedric Yambere had been penalised for a foul inside the area, with the PSG forward sending the keeper the wrong way for his fourth of the evening and 15th Ligue 1 goal of the season.

That goal made it PSG's biggest ever home win in any competition, but it could have realistically been double figures after Nkunku and Neymar both missed late chances to further extend the lead.

As it was there was no further damage suffered by Dijon as PSG maintained their 100% home record in all competitions this season to extend their lead at the top of the table back to 11 points.
