AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori reportedly turned down the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window.

The former Chelsea man failed to make the grade at Stamford Bridge, but he has blossomed into a highly-rated defender under Stefano Pioli since joining the Rossoneri.

Following a successful loan spell in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign, Tomori joined Milan permanently that same summer for £27.4m, and he played a major part in the Rossoneri's Serie A title triumph during his first full season at the club.

The 25-year-old's exploits earned him a place in the 2021-22 Serie A Team of the Year, as well as a new long-term contract with Pioli's side until the summer of 2027.

The 2022-23 season was not so successful for Milan on the domestic front, but Tomori made 10 Champions League starts as Pioli's men reached the semi-finals, suffering heartache at the hands of San Siro rivals Inter Milan.

Despite the presence of Malick Thiaw and Simon Kjaer, Tomori remains one of the first names on the team sheet for Pioli, and he has already turned out five times for Milan in the current campaign.

In total, the England international has scored three goals and provided one assist in 112 games for the Italian giants, but his loyalty to the club was supposedly put to the test over the summer.

According to Calciomercato, French champions PSG showed a tentative interest in signing Tomori upon the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, having waved goodbye to Sergio Ramos on a free transfer.

PSG had apparently touched base with the defender's agents to gauge his interest in a potential move to the French capital, but Tomori gave Les Parisiens the cold shoulder.

Since snubbing a transfer to PSG, Tomori has helped Milan claim four wins from their opening five Serie A games of the season, but he missed a 5-1 Derby della Madonnina beating at the hands of Inter through suspension.

However, the 25-year-old has since helped Milan keep back-to-back clean sheets against Newcastle United and Hellas Verona in the Champions League and Italian top flight respectively after watching on helplessly from the sidelines in the derby.

Despite rising to prominence in Italy, the Canadian-born centre-back has just three England caps to his name under Gareth Southgate and missed out on a place in the Three Lions' 2022 World Cup squad.

With a move for Tomori proving a non-starter, PSG swooped for Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich, as well as signing Milan Skriniar on a free transfer after his exit from Inter.

Both summer signings started in Sunday's emphatic 4-0 win over Marseille in Le Classique, where Goncalo Ramos netted a brace alongside strikes from Achraf Hakimi and Randal Kolo Muani. body check tags ::
