Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike is reportedly set to leave the club in January.

The 21-year-old scored four goals and provided four assists in 32 competitive appearances during a loan spell with PSG last season.

After an obligation to buy was triggered in his loan deal, Ekitike completed a permanent transfer from fellow Ligue 1 side Reims.

Despite signing a contract until the summer of 2027, the youngster was linked with a move away from Parc des Princes.

PSG were supposedly left frustrated with the striker after he turned down a potential switch to German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

There was a suggestion that he would be a makeweight in a deal for Randal Kolo Muani, but PSG still managed to sign the France international despite Ekitike's reluctance to join the Bundesliga side.

Ekitike preference was to complete a move to the Premier League where he was attracting interest from a number of clubs, including West Ham United.

The Hammers were in the market for a striker after selling Italy international Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta BC during the summer window.

They were reportedly in discussions over a move for Ekitike, but the proposed transfer failed to materialise, ensuring that the player remained in the French capital.

However, according to Football Insider, there is an expectation that the forward will leave the French champions when the January transfer window opens.

Ekitike is out of favour at PSG after the club bolstered their centre-forward options with a couple of summer additions.

The Parisians recruited Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos from Frankfurt and Benfica respectively, leaving Ekitike firmly down the pecking order.

Ekitike has only played eight minutes this season, during a substitute appearance in the league opener against Lorient.

After being an unused substitute for PSG's next two matches, Luis Enrique left him out of the squad entirely for their last two games against Lyon and Nice.
