Luciano Narsingh scored in either half as PSV Eindhoven continued the defence of their Eredivisie title with a comfortable victory over Groningen.
The hosts took the lead within seven minutes as a slide-rule pass from Maxime Lestienne allowed Narsingh to round keeper Sergio Padt and slot the ball into the net from a tight angle.
Phillip Cocu's side, who drew at ADO Den Haag after keeper Martin Hansen scored a dramatic equaliser last weekend, remained on the front foot and almost doubled their lead before the interval when Davy Propper's shot drifted narrowly wide of the left-hand post.
Early in the second half, PSV could have opened up a two-goal lead, but Luuk de Jong was unable to take down a long ball from Andres Guardado after stealing space in between the Groningen defence.
The Mexican fired another diagonal ball over the visitors' back line and had Padt scrambling under pressure from Narsingh, but the visitors managed to avert the danger.
PSV continued their strong start after the break and on the hour mark, Narsingh was inches away from scoring with a strike from distance that flew over the crossbar.
The champions finally made sure of three points when Narsingh curled a shot from the left side of the area, which left Padt rooted to the spot.
