Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with Pablo Alvarez over a possible move, according to the Argentine defender's agent.
Alvarez, who is currently a free agent after leaving Catania in the summer, has been training with QPR this week in an attempt to prove his worth to Harry Redknapp.
The 30-year-old is believed to have attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe and in South America, but QPR now appear favourites to secure his signature.
"Pablo has been considering his options, but he has always harboured the ambition to play in the Premier League and when the chance to talk with QPR and Harry came up, he jumped at the opportunity," Barry McIntosh, Alvarez's British representative, told Goal.com.
Alvarez played 18 times in Serie A for Catania last season.
