Jamie Redknapp: 'Queens Park Rangers considering Niko Krancjar move'

Queens Park Rangers may make a late move for Niko Kranjcar, according to Jamie Redknapp, son of Hoops boss Harry Redknapp.

Queens Park Rangers are considering a late swoop to bring in Croatian playmaker Nico Kranjcar, according to the manager's son Jamie Redknapp.

Kranjcar played for current Hoops boss Harry Redknapp at both Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth, leading to speculation in some circles that he may aim to sign the midfielder for a third time before the transfer window closes.

Jamie has revealed that his father has mulled over a move for Kranjcar, who moved to Dynamo Kiev last summer, but has to make a firm offer as he pursues a loan deal for Spurs youngster Tom Carroll.

Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "[Kranjcar] plays in that number 10 role, he's a very good player that can link the play.

"If you have followed my dad's career, when he was at Portsmouth he had Paul Merson, who was a brilliant signing when they came up from the Championship to the Premier League, and I think that's what he's hoping Niko Kranjcar can do.

"If you've got footballers in that league that can pass the ball it really does take you a long way. They're two players [Kranjcar and Carroll] that he'd like to bring in just to give them an extra dimension to their play."

The 29-year-old spent six seasons in England in a spell starting with Portsmouth in 2006.
