Liverpool have reportedly switched their attention to in-demand Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.
The 25-year-old, who recently received his first senior England call-up, has been linked to Newcastle United, Southampton, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Chelsea.
It is believed that QPR, who were relegated to the Championship last month, are holding out for a bid in the region of £15m for the forward, who is said to be interested in signing for Newcastle.
According to The Northern Echo, Liverpool have entered the race by making contact with Austin's representatives regarding a summer move to Anfield.
The Reds have so far acquired the signatures of James Milner, Danny Ings and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.
