Ian Holloway hopes to add some Premier League experience to his Crystal Palace squad before the close of the transfer window, and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is apparently top of his wanted list.
The Eagles have lost both of their opening matches since returning to the top flight, which they did via the Championship playoffs in May.
Barton spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 club Marseille, but has featured for QPR this campaign despite announcing his intention of returning to France or leaving Loftus Road to other potential suitors this summer.
The Daily Mail reports that the 32-year-old is available for around £3m, a price that Holloway is willing to pay as he feels that Barton's arrival will energise his squad.
Palace are also targeting Reading's £750,000-rated winger Jimmy Kebe, who would provide competition for Jason Puncheon and Jerome Thomas, previous summer arrivals at Selhurst Park, on the flanks.
