Queens Park Rangers have reportedly moved a step closer to bringing Rolando to Loftus Road.
The Porto defender has been on Harry Redknapp's radar for a number of weeks but the deal appeared to hit a stumbling block, with the Portuguese club rumoured to be unwilling to let the 27-year-old leave.
However, the Metro suggests that Rolando has met with Redknapp in an attempt to secure a switch to the Premier League before the end of the January transfer window.
QPR are desperate to sign at least one defender this month as they prepare to lose Ryan Nelsen, who will take over at Toronto FC, and Anton Ferdinand, who is rumoured to be keen on a loan move to Bursaspor.
Redknapp's side are currently bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety.
