St Mirren's poor start to the Scottish Championship season has continued with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Raith Rovers.
Raith took the lead in the 11th minute when James Craigen struck into the top right corner from outside the penalty area.
St Mirren tried to respond immediately but Stephen Mallan's shot was blocked before Calum Gallagher was denied by Kevin Cuthbert.
Saints goalkeeper Jamie Langfield stopped Jon Daly and Mark Stewart from doubling Rovers' lead before Lawrence Shankland's header was saved at the other end.
Scotland Under-21 international Shankland struck the equaliser just before half time when he found the bottom corner after Keith Watson's assist.
Shankland had three more chances in the second half, but the Raith defence blocked two shots before Cuthbert saved a shot from 10 yards.
Grant Anderson gave Raith the lead in the 86th minute from close range to secure the three points.
The result means that St Mirren remain just two points above the relegation playoff place, while Raith move up to third.
