Queen of the South are on course to move into the playoff places of the Scottish Championship table, having taken a 1-0 lead into half time of their match against Rangers this evening.
After a quiet opening period, the visitors threatened twice in quick succession when first Andrew Murdoch's cross almost looped under the crossbar, before Haris Vuckic and Lee Wallace combined to set up Nicky Clark, who could only send his header wide.
David Templeton then sent a long-range drive over the crossbar before having another sight of goal in the 25th minute, but again he failed to keep his effort down.
The first real clear opening of the match fell the way of the hosts, and they took full advantage of it as Dan Carmichael and Lewis Kidd combined to tee up Derek Lyle, who put his effort past Lee Robinson.
Queen of the South almost grabbed a second in as many minutes when they came forward at pace, but this time Robinson was able to keep out Gavin Reilly's effort.
Rangers responded, though, and moments after Clark nodded wide they struck the woodwork through Kenny Miller, whose guided header came back off the crossbar.
