Rangers have headed into half time on level terms following a goalless first half against Hearts in the Scottish Championship, despite Ally McCoist's side being reduced to 10 men early on at Tynecastle.
The first chance of the match fell to the visitors as Jon Daly met a high cross into the box, but he could not test Neil Alexander.
Rangers continued to look the more likely in the opening 20 minutes, but were dealt a blow when Steven Smith was sent off for a high challenge on Callum Paterson.
Despite being down to 10 men, the visitors were still the dominant side, with Bilel Mohsni turning the ball just wide before Lee Wallace blasted an effort high.
Alexander was called into action before the break as Nicky Law tried to curl a free kick in, but it was a comfortable stop for the former Rangers man.
Steve Simonsen also made a save down the other end moments later as Alim Ozturk attempted to drill the ball in from just outside the box, but he could not beat the keeper.
Hearts finished the half with a flourish, creating a series of good chances just before the break, including a header from Brad McKay which was tipped onto the crossbar by Simonsen.
