McCoist: Naismith absence no excuse

Ally McCoist thinks that Rangers need to move on from the season-long loss of Steven Naismith.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist thinks that the Scottish Premier League champions need to forget about Steven Naismith's injury and focus on the job at hand.

The Gers slumped to their first league defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock at the weekend.

While McCoist has accepted the loss of Naismith, who will miss the rest of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury, the 49-year-old thinks that the team cannot dwell on the blow.

"Any team in the country would miss Naismith and we are no different," said McCoist. "But there is no use sitting here saying we are missing Naismith without doing something about it. We have to do something about it.

"We have to win games other ways. Naismith ain't coming back so we just need to get on with it."

The SPL winners take on Dunfermline on Saturday.
