Rangers announce that they will hold next month's Extraordinary General Meeting at Ibrox after a second London hotel pulled out of hosting the key talks.

Rangers have announced that next month's Extraordinary General Meeting will now be held at Ibrox as normal due to a number of "threats".

Board members of the Scottish Championship side were originally due to meet at the Millennium in London, before the venue was switched to the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel due to fears of disruption.

However, with this second hotel having cancelled the club's booking on Tuesday, just hours after the original announcement was made, Rangers will now hold the meeting at their home ground.

Gers chiefs were keen to hold the key talks, which will help determine the future composition of the board, away from Ibrox after being subjected to a hostile reception prior to December's general meeting.

A statement to the stock exchange this morning read: "It is with regret that the board must announce that, following threats from persons unknown, the Grange Hotel at Tower Hill in London has informed the company that it is no longer willing to host the general meeting on March 4 2015.

"Accordingly, the new venue for this general meeting will be Ibrox Stadium, in Glasgow, at a date to be determined. The original London venue was selected for the general meeting because the board felt that previous general meetings held at Ibrox had been disrupted by chanting and other shouting and accordingly had sought a business venue where a meeting could be held with more decorum.

"Following threats it was decided to seek a second London venue, not least because, for legal reasons, this would have preserved the ability to continue to hold the meeting on 4 March. Unfortunately, these efforts have now been thwarted. A further announcement will be made as soon as possible once a new time and date for the general meeting have been established."

Campaign group Rangers First has acquired more than 10,000 members so far as they look to take control of the cash-strapped outfit.
