Sunday's Scottish Third Division match between Rangers and Elgin City at Borough Briggs has been called off due to safety reasons.
It has been revealed that too many tickets were sold for the game between the league's top two sides.
"We are disappointed the match has been called off at such short notice and I know Elgin are as well," said Gers boss Ally McCoist.
"This was due to circumstances out of our control but we were informed a short time ago that there was no way the match could go ahead on safety grounds.
"Elgin City have apologised to the club and we accept their apology but I feel for our fans."
Rangers currently top the Scottish Third Division table, while Elgin sit two points behind them in second place.
