Rangers head coach Mark Warburton has laughed off suggestions that Robin van Persie is closing in on a move to Ibrox.
Earlier this week, reports had suggested that Van Persie was on the brink of leaving Fenerbahce for Glasgow, which resulted in some bookmakers suspending betting on the transfer.
However, talkSPORT said on Thursday that the Netherlands international would not be making the switch to the Scottish Premiership, and Warburton has confirmed that there is "no substance" in the speculation.
Warburton told reporters: "I woke up to a barrage of missed calls and text messages. Apparently the deal is done and everyone knows about it apart from anyone at Rangers football club.
"The fact of the matter is that there is no substance behind it whatsoever. Not even an enquiry, a general enquiry."
Van Persie has been linked with a return to British football after just 12 months in Turkey.
