Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez has claimed that La Liga clubs would be better off if Copa del Rey fixtures were played as one-off games.
From the last-32 stage of the cup competition, teams face off in two-legged matches in order to advance to the next round.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique recently criticised the set-up due to the crowded nature of the fixture list, and Jemez has revealed that he 'totally agrees' with his fellow La Liga manager.
"I totally agree. I think the calendar is crowded enough to have a cup like they do in England," Marca quotes Jemez as saying.
"A one-off game is much better because it gives possibilities to the smaller teams to go even further and clean up their coffers, since a small team going through several rounds and playing several Primera teams can fix a debt."
Barcelona's involvement in the 2015 Club World Cup means that they will open their 2015-16 Copa del Rey defence with a first-leg game against Villanovense on Wednesday.
