Queens Park Rangers and Reading both missed the chance to record their first Premier League win of this season this afternoon.

The relegation rivals drew 1-1 at Loftus Road after 90 minutes of end-to-end action.

Kaspars Gorkss volleyed home against his former club to put the Royals ahead early on, before Djibril Cisse's first league goal of the season earned Rangers a point.

Was the result fair?

Both sides had an astonishing number of efforts at goal and, on another day, either could easily have recorded a win. QPR may well argue otherwise, but a point each was probably the fairest outcome.

QPR's performance

Rangers were booed off at half time and full time. However, they played some good stuff. Adel Taarabt and Esteban Granero looked very dangerous going forward. If it were not for an outstanding performance from Royals goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, the hosts could well have scored three or four.

Reading's performance

Brian McDermott's men were well-organised and showed good discipline. They attacked with fluidity and defended as a unit. Leading the attack, Jason Roberts was very impressive.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Alex McCarthy: Was a commanding presence throughout. He caught well under pressure and made two outstanding saves - tipping Granero's first-half free kick onto the crossbar and denying Cisse from close range late on.

Referee's performance

Michael Oliver should be commended for contributing to a brilliant spectacle. He allowed the game to flow and produced just two yellow cards - for Noel Hunt and Adam le Fondre. He also correctly turned down both penalty appeals - the second of which resulted in Le Fondre's booking for diving.

QPR travel to Stoke City on Saturday, while Reading host Norwich City.
