Reading manager Jaap Stam has praised Roy Beerens after his brace helped the Royals to all three points against fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The 28-year-old winger struck twice in the second half of the encounter at the Madejski to consolidate their hold of third place in the Championship and banish memories of their previous game, a 5-0 mauling at Fulham.
"Roy has got the quality to do that. He's very creative, good with his feet," Stam told reporters afterwards.
"We know if he plays, especially in the number 10 position, that he can create something to get a goal. If he plays on the wing sometimes it's a bit more difficult for him to get in the positions to score.
"But we know he has the quality to beat people one on one. He's not the strongest player, but sometimes you need to be clever as well."
Next up for Stam's men is a trip to another promotion hopeful, Leeds United, on Tuesday night.
