Reading manager Brian McDermott has declared that new signing Stephen Kelly will be an instant hit at the Madejski Stadium.
Kelly left Fulham on Friday afternoon to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Royals.
The Republic of Ireland international is Reading's third signing of the transfer window, and McDermott is adamant that Kelly is the type of character than can help Reading quickly in their fight for survival.
He told the club's official website: "I've always liked him as a player, and the first time I met him was at Kevin Doyle's wedding a while ago now and I thought he was a top guy.
"I know he's going to fit into the dressing room here really well. He's up for the fight, up for the battle, he's hungry, he wants to do well and I know he'll be successful for us."
The 29-year-old did not sign in time to make his Reading debut in today's Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.
