Sports Mole looks ahead to Sunday's Championship clash between Reading and high-flying Wolves at the Madejski Stadium.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will look to continue their fine start to life back in the Championship when they travel to the Madejski Stadium to take on Reading on Sunday.

Last season's League One champions have amassed 17 points from their opening eight outings and could have the chance to go top of the table this weekend depending on results elsewhere.

Kenny Jackett's side have lost just once so far this season, and even that was a match that they should have won as Rotherham United hung on to claim a smash-and-grab victory last month.

Results in recent weeks have been a little more worrying, with dropped points against the likes of Blackpool and Charlton Athletic, but they returned to winning ways in their last outing with a 1-0 triumph over Bolton Wanderers.

Most of their success so far has come at Molineux, though, with Wolves only having scored two goals in their four matches on the road this season.

Jackett can be confident that he has a strong defence to fall back on, however, as his side have only conceded three goals in their opening eight fixtures - the lowest tally in the league.

A lack of League Cup action during the week means that Wolves have had a full eight days to prepare for this match, and Jackett could name an unchanged side, with no new injury concerns to worry about.

Like Wolves, Reading are expected to push for a top-six finish this season, but their own run of good form came to an end with a 1-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

Before that, they had bounced back from a heavy defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest with three consecutive victories, but they come into this weekend having lost twice in the space of a week following their League Cup exit on Tuesday.

The Royals have, however, won three of their four league outings at the Madejski Stadium this season, while their extended record in front of their own fans stretches back to just one defeat in their last nine.

Nigel Adkins still has injury worries, however, with Jem Karacan, Garath McCleary and Hal Robson-Kanu all out, and Anton Ferdinand a doubt.

Glenn Murray could once again start up front for his new side, with Jamie Mackie, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Simon Cox battling it out to partner him.
