Reading manager Brian McDermott has moved to explain speculation that he is trying to sign Italian veteran Filippo Inzaghi.
The striker is a free agent after leaving AC Milan and has been linked with a move to Reading and Watford this summer.
McDermott rejected talk of a contract offer for the 38-year-old.
He told getreading: "I know exactly where that has come from... I was sat in Tallinn and we were introduced to an Italian agent and we said hello. We started talking about numerous players and he said, 'I can get you Inzaghi.'
"I said, 'Okay, that's good, he's old isn't he?'
"I told him that we wouldn't be going down that road and I was happy with the players that I have and we carried on talking."
Reading will begin their Premier League campaign, minus Inzaghi, at home to Stoke City on August 18.
