Reading will reportedly return with a bid for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.
The Royals saw a £2m bid rejected for the 25-year-old, however, they are understood to be preparing an improved offer.
According to the Reading Chronicle, Royals boss Brian McDermott has identified the centre-back as a key defensive target ahead of next season.
Mariappa has four Jamaican caps to his name.
