Former Real Madrid star Davor Suker has said that there is more to come from Luka Modric.
The Croatian playmaker has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu since his big-money move from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but scored in the midweek Champions League tie with Manchester United.
Suker said that he was delighted his countryman got on the scoresheet in such a vital game, especially for his old club.
"Modric is a great player with a great future," he told AS. "You have to give him time and be patient. "He missed out on a lot of pre-season training and that has taken its toll, but now I see him and he looks well. "It was a double joy for me [when he scored against Manchester United on Tuesday] – firstly because it was Madrid and secondly because it was a Croatian goalscorer. I hope Madrid can continue on this journey and reach the final at Wembley." Suker played for Los Blancos between 1996 and 1999.
