Cristiano Ronaldo will not be in the Real Madrid squad for their Copa del Rey last-32 first leg against Cadiz on Wednesday evening.
The 30-year-old has not missed a single minute of La Liga or Champions League action this season, despite fears over a troublesome knee problem.
The Portugal captain will be given a rest for the cup match on Wednesday, however, with Rafael Benitez taking the attacker out of the firing line.
"Cristiano will be rested for Wednesday's match," confirmed Benitez at his pre-match press conference.
Ronaldo, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent weeks, has scored 16 times in 18 games for the Spanish giants this season.
