Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has claimed that this season has been the worst of his career after his side's loss to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
Los Blancos were beaten 2-1 in extra time in a fiery encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday night as Mourinho was sent to the stands before Cristiano Ronaldo was given a red card.
Madrid will end the campaign in second place in the La Liga table and with no trophies to show for their efforts.
"This was the worst season of my career," Mourinho told the club's official website. "I don't think Atletico deserve to be champions but they won the title. We had two clear chances on goal, we hit the post three times...this is why I think it is unfair."
Mourinho, who joined the club in 2010, has been heavily linked with a return to Chelsea in the summer.
