David Fernandez Borbalan is the referee that has been chosen to officiate Saturday's El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu.
It was reported that the Referees' Committee delayed naming the official for the showpiece event in order to avoid any media pressure in the build-up.
The decision has now been made, however, with Fernandez due to take charge of his third Clasico between Spain's two biggest clubs.
Both of the Spaniard's previous Clasicos came in the 2011-12 season – the second of which was a 3-1 win for Barcelona at the Bernabeu in the league.
Fernandez was also the man in the middle when Jose Mourinho famously poked then Barcelona assistant Tito Vilanova in the eye during an ill-tempered Spanish Super Cup second leg in August 2011.
