Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled himself out of Real Madrid's Super Cup final meeting with Sevilla due to an injury picked up earlier this month.
The 31-year-old was forced off the field during the first half of Portugal's shock 1-0 victory over France in the final of Euro 2016 and has yet to fully recover.
With a little over two weeks to go before Madrid face off against their La Liga rivals, Ronaldo has announced that he does not intend to return to full training until the day after the final in Norway.
"I am completely ruled out for the European Super Cup on the 9th because I aim to be back for the 10th," he is quoted as saying by The Sun.
Ronaldo, who scored 16 goals in the Champions League alone last season, was recently shortlisted for the Best Player in Europe award alongside Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
