Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has revealed that he was suffering with "a little cramp" in the latter stages of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Napoli.

The Brazil international was on the scoresheet in his side's 4-2 success at Bernabeu, but he was replaced in the 87th minute of the match after pulling up with discomfort.

There were fears that the forward could now be set for a spell on the sidelines, but he said after the match that he was only suffering with "a little cramp" and had already recovered from the problem.

"I was a little tired in the second part and then I had a little cramp, but I'm fine," the 22-year-old told reporters.

The result allowed Real Madrid to secure first position in Group C, with their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League already been confirmed ahead of kickoff.

"I am very happy for the team and on a personal level for scoring again. Qualified and first, a nice night. It means a lot to be first in the group. We have more peace of mind for the rest of the season," he added.

"Real Madrid must always be the first. We are all playing well. We are scoring a lot of goals and defending well as well. I think we are at our best."

Rodrygo struggled for form in the early stages of the campaign, but the Brazilian has now netted in his last three Champions League appearances, in addition to braces in each of his last two La Liga outings.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the clash with Napoli that he was always confident that the South American would be able to find his form again.

"I have seen many forwards with bad times and there you have to not lower confidence and the player does not lower his arms. He never lowered his arms and the day he scored the first goal he made the click that changed him. It was just a matter of time," said Ancelotti.

The Real Madrid head coach also said after the clash with Napoli that he would have the same squad for this weekend's game against Granada, with none of the players on the sidelines through injury ready to return.

"We can't get anyone back against Granada, but I think that against [Real] Betis it may be [Luka] Modric. We will prepare the match against Granada with these players," he added.

As a result, Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Modric, Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Aurelien Tchouameni will again all be missing for Saturday's clash.

Real Madrid have now won each of their last four games in all competitions, including their last two in La Liga, with a total of 35 points from 14 matches leaving them at the top of the table. body check tags ::
