Jude Bellingham has said that he is "very grateful" to be at Real Madrid, with the midfielder continuing his excellent start to life at Bernabeu in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old made it six goals in his first six Los Blancos appearances when he netted a late winner against Union Berlin in the European Cup.

Bellingham has registered five goals in his first five La Liga appearances, and he is now off the mark in Europe for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The England international is on course to break his best-ever scoring season in professional football, which came during the 2022-23 campaign at Borussia Dortmund, when he struck 14 times in all competitions.

Bellingham has now opened up on his happiness at Real Madrid, with the club said to have beaten the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to his signature.

"I am very happy. Every day I am very grateful to be here. I come with a smile on my face, happy to learn from my teammates and to keep winning. Winning is the most important objective here," he told the club's official media.

"I didn't expect a start like this. I was confident in doing things well and, so far, it's going very well. I've got my feet firmly on the ground and I'm calm. I hope it continues like this.

"It was a good win. It was a tough match, they were very well-organised at the back. It was frustrating at times, but we knew we had to keep insisting and try to find those gaps.

"We missed a lot of chances, but in the end, I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to score.

"It's (winning) the most important thing. At the beginning of the season, we would have signed it. We have to maintain this level and carry this rhythm into the next game. We all have to continue with this level of play because we have a lot of games ahead of us."

Meanwhile, Ancelotti also hailed the former Birmingham City youngster after the clash with Union Berlin.

"He has quality and it seems like luck. This goal is similar to Getafe's, but you have to be there. Coming from the second line he is smarter than others. He has this quality and he is taking advantage of it. I have not challenged anyone for goals," said the Italian during his post-match press conference.

Real Madrid will now be aiming to make it seven straight wins in all competitions this season when they head to rivals Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday night. body check tags ::
