Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos believes that it is imperative that new signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos are given time to settle at the Bernabeu this season.
Big things are expected from the pair, who arrived from Monaco and Bayern Munich respectively this summer.
However, Carlos has said that the duo need time "to adapt" to their new club.
"[Florentino Perez] is signing players of the highest level which is very important," Carlos told Marca.
"Now is time to adapt and you have to be patient with the players who have come in.
"Opposition teams will want to beat Madrid even more, for all its history and success. Madrid have a lot to prepare this season because this season will be more difficult with everything they've got."
Madrid face Sevilla in the European Super Cup on Tuesday evening.
