Former Real Madrid playmaker Guti has said that Jose Mourinho's future must be decided by the club and not the players.
The Portuguese coach is almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season after conceding the La Liga title to arch-rivals Barcelona and reportedly falling out with captain Iker Casillas and influential defender Sergio Ramos.
However, Guti, who spent 15 years at Madrid, believes that any decision on Mourinho's future must be made by club president Florentino Perez and not the players who the former Chelsea manager has reportedly fallen out with.
"The future of the boss should be decided by the club, and not the players," Guti told Cardena Cope.
"It's not possible a captain (Ramos or Casillas) would tell Florentino what he must do regarding a coach. I have never said anything like that to any president.
"I would not be disrespectful. The president has been clever enough to come out and make a stand."
The Spanish champions currently trail La Liga leaders Barcelona by 15 points.
