Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui has claimed that he cannot see a La Liga game taking place in the United States.
Earlier this month, the Spanish top flight announced plans to hold regular season matches stateside as part of a league expansion plan.
La Liga entered into a 15-year deal with US promoter Relevent Sports to form La Liga North America, which it says "will work to cultivate soccer culture" on the continent.
The Spanish players' union (AFE) subsequently held a meeting with top players on Wednesday, stating that the footballers were unanimously against the proposal.
"We're obviously thinking about other things, but I've seen this and I'm with the players on this one," Lopetegui told reporters on Saturday.
"[La Liga] have got arguments and reasons to think what they do and I can't see it happening. That's my opinion."
Reports in Spain have claimed that La Liga knows which two teams will play the league game in the US and that the clubs in question have given their approval.
