Jose Mourinho has said that Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid is "perfect" for both the Frenchman and his club.
Real handed the job to Zidane earlier this week, less than 10 months after he departed on the back of three successive Champions League triumphs.
Mourinho was the favourite to succeed Santiago Solari in the Bernabeu dugout, but one former Madrid manager was overlooked for another.
The 56-year-old insists that he is not disappointed to have missed out on the job, though, telling El Chiringuito: "It seems perfect to me. With the fantastic things he has done in the last years - it seems perfect.
"For Madrid it is perfect, and for him it is a great opportunity to demonstrate how good he is. And now with a new project, it is fantastic.
"I never said I wanted it or not. I just told you Zidane to Madrid is perfect."
Zidane's first game back in charge of Madrid comes against Celta Vigo at the Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.
