Defender Pepe has urged Real Madrid to extend Cristiano Ronaldo's current contract with the club.
Speculation earlier in the season had claimed that Ronaldo was unhappy with the Spanish champions and had decided upon seeking a new club. Those reports were said to have alerted the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and his former club Manchester United.
However, Portuguese international Pepe wants to see his compatriot end his career at the Bernabeu.
"This is a matter between the club and him, only they and his agent know where his future lies," Pepe told Marca. "As a personal friend of mine I hope he stays as long as possible, but for that to happen the club has to make the decision to extend his contract.
"As a teammate I would say it's good if he stays here for the rest of his career."
Ronaldo joined Los Blancos from United in the summer of 2009 for £80m.
