Barcelona defender Carles Puyol is facing a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his right cheekbone on Sunday.
The 34-year-old suffered the injury during the Blaugrana's 2-1 away victory over Osasuna in La Liga.
Tests carried out after the game on Sunday revealed the injury, with Puyol to undergo further examination on Monday to know the full extent of the damage.
The Spain international centre-back could now miss the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Barcelona lead 3-2 from the first leg played out at Camp Nou last week.
