Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not play a part in the club's La Liga tie with Leganes on Wednesday.
The Portuguese forward netted twice in Madrid's 3-1 Champions League defeat of Paris Saint-Germain last week, and ahead of next week's second leg, Zidane has said that it is "necessary" to give the 32-year-old a break.
"I don't know how many years he went without stopping, but now the moment has come where it's necessary for him and for everyone for him to not play from time to time."
Wednesday night's fixture with Leganes was postponed earlier in the season due to Madrid's participation in the Club World Cup.
Ronaldo has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season.
