Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has admitted that his team "lacked a bit of everything" in Saturday's La Liga clash with Sporting Gijon, which ended in a narrow 2-1 win for the league leaders.
Cristiano Ronaldo's first-half brace ultimately proved enough for Real Madrid to beat relegation-threatened Sporting, who missed a late penalty during what was an impressive performance at the Bernabeu.
Zidane has conceded that his side were fortunate to collect all the points after struggling to find their rhythm in the Spanish capital.
"It was a difficult game, in which the only good thing was the three points. It's a game for us to forget because things didn't go as we wanted them to, but it is what it is," Zidane told reporters.
"We were lacking a bit in everything, but we're happy for the three points, they're important. The rain? Both teams had to play through it. I have no explanation for why we lacked a bit of everything."
Real Madrid will travel to Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season next weekend.
