Real Madrid moved into second spot in the La Liga table this afternoon with a thumping 5-0 win over Levante in Valencia.

Cristiano Ronaldo [two], Javier Hernandez, James Rodriguez and Isco were on the scoresheet for the visitors, who have now won their last five in the league following a shaky start to the season.

LEVANTE

Goal

Diego Marino: Might have conceded five times, but was arguably his side's best player. Made a number of smart saves, especially in the second period, with his best moment a sensational point-blank save to deny Luka Modric. (7/10)

Defence

Pedro Lopez: Afforded Real Madrid's attack far too much space throughout the contest, while he was one of four Levante players to pick up a booking in what was an untidy first 45 minutes. (5/10)

Hector Rodas: Did his best to limit the space available as Real Madrid dominated possession in the final third, but was not in line with his teammates. Needed more from those around him. (6/10)

Ivan Lopez: Another that had a difficult afternoon, but the Spaniard was not helped by his midfield, who failed to provide adequate protection throughout the contest. (5/10)

Juanfran: Gave away a first-half penalty after a poor challenge on Hernandez and looked off the pace all afternoon. Levante needed his experience, but he could not deliver. (4/10)

Midfield

Ruben Garcia: Was his side's most productive player before being replaced in the latter stages. Always willing to take players on in the final third, but had very few options in the box. (6/10)

Papakouli Diop: Used his presence well in the first period, with his driving runs creating problems. However, the midfielder faded in the second half as Real Madrid dominated the ball. (5/10)

Victor Camarasa: Picked up a booking after 24 minutes and did not look the same player thereafter. However, he did have his side's best chance - a close-range strike that was saved by Iker Casillas. (5/10)

Jose Morales: Was tasked with providing support to his lone striker, but never saw enough of the ball to influence the match. The game passed him by. (5/10)

Jaime Gavilan: Was replaced by Victor Perez at the interval after failing to influence the first period. Has undoubted ability, but could not make his mark against Los Blancos. (5/10)

Attack

Victor Casadesus: Had a couple of half-chances in the first period, but was given scraps to feed on all afternoon. Exited the match for David Barral after 67 minutes. (5/10)

Substitutes

Victor Perez: Showed some nice touches in the second period, but could not cause problems to the Real Madrid back four, who might not have an easier match all season. (6/10)

David Barral: Immediately brought pace and trickery to his side's attack after entering with little over 20 minutes remaining, but his introduction came too late. (6/10)

Jordi Xumetra: Replaced Garcia after 75 minutes, but struggled to make his mark due to Real Madrid's domination of the ball in the final stages. (5/10)

REAL MADRID

Goal

Iker Casillas: Had his feet up for much of the contest, but did deny Camarasa with a point-blank save in the first period. Seems to still have his club manager's full confidence. (6/10)

Defence

Dani Carvajal: On his return to the team, provided his side with his usual attacking threat. Always full of running and always prepared to break into the final third. (7/10)

Pepe: Perhaps will not have an easier match all season, but his own performance contributed to that. The centre-back was calm in possession of the ball and strong aerially. (7/10)

Nacho: Brought into the XI in place of the injured Sergio Ramos and produced a confident and composed display. Has no problems filling in anywhere across the back four. (7/10)

Marcelo: Had hardly anything to do defensively and could therefore concentrate on his forward play. Like Carvajal, the full-back provided his side with an attacking threat from a wide position. (7/10)

Midfield

Luka Modric: Should have scored late on after breaking into the Levante box, but was denied by Marino. That said, the Croatian's overall performance was of a high standard as he controlled the tempo of the match. (7/10)

Toni Kroos: Still waiting for his first Real Madrid goal, but continues to contribute in the middle of the park. Levante just could not get anywhere near the German this afternoon. (7/10)

Isco: Continued his impressive form for Los Blancos with a goal and an assist. Set up Ronaldo for the Portuguese's second, before finding the back of the net with a brilliant effort late on. (8/10)

Attack

Cristiano Ronaldo: Made it 15 league goals for the season with a brace. The Portuguese's first came from the penalty spot after 13 minutes, before he added his second just past the hour. Levante just could not live with the attacker. (8/10)

Javier Hernandez: Given the nod due to an injury to Karim Benzema and scored his third Los Blancos goal - heading a James cross into the back of the net from close range. (7/10)

James Rodriguez: One of his best games in a Madrid shirt. Set up Hernandez with a brilliant cross, before grabbing a goal himself in the second period. Much more like it from the Colombian. (8/10)

Substitutes

Asier Illarramendi: Replaced Kroos with 20 minutes remaining and kept it neat and tidy in the middle of the park. (6/10)

Alvaro Arbeloa: Given a run-out at left-back in the final 15 minutes, but left Ronaldo frustrated late on after failing to find him with a low cross following a swift counter. (6/10)

Alvaro Medran: Castilla midfielder was given his La Liga debut after 79 minutes and the Spaniard showed some nice touches in the final third of the field. (6/10)
